Geocache Description:

I'm not longer active in Geocaching, and no longer live in NJ, this was one that I couldn't adopt out when I moved. Will keep it active as long as it keeps getting reported found and in good shape. If reported as needing maintenance, it will be removed and archived next time I'm in New Jersey (I'm only in MD and do get up there regularly enough). Please message me if you have an interest in adopting this cache!

This cache is in the wooded park of Losen Slote Creek park in Little Ferry, NJ. The borough owns and operates this park that was designed and constructed by the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission, a state organization overseeing the job of cleaning up and reclaiming the Meadowlands.

This should hopefully be an easy one (LockNLock) to find, but please replace it as found, just out of view of muggles.

You may be able to reach the cache from Chapman Drive at the End of Eckel Road, I don't know, but if you can you'll only save a few feet, and you'll lose out on a nice walk through the woods. Park instead, at the listed parking coordinates, at the park entrance. There's a Hockey Rink and a restroom, some benches, and ample parking spots.

The entrance could use a little CITO, but as you enter the woods, it gets nicer and nicer. By the time you get to the Creek, you'll be wondering if you're still in Bergen County.

Please note that the park is adjacent to the BCUA (Bergen County Utilities Authority) Nature Preserve, which is open to the public but only with advance permission. The preserve is an old brick making site. A large pond, Mehrhof Pond was once a clay pit. It's a popular site for birders. Advance permission needs to be gained to enter, an insurance waiver needs to be signed, it isn't open on weekends or holidays. You also need to be part of an organized group. It seems like a fantastic idea for an event cache ;) except for the no-weekends part, I'll have to think about it! In the meantime, there is no need to enter the BCUA preserve to reach this cache. When you enter Losen Slote Creek Park, you'll cross a small wooden bridge and come to a fence with an opening, and a pole to prevent vehicles from entering. After a few hundred feet there is another fence, a newer fence with barbed wire at the top. Stay on the Losen Slote side of this fence. Some locals cut the gate open and removed the sign, but that doesn't make it legal to enter! Other gates that you will see in the park, still have the BCUA signs on them. Please respect them. The shortest approach to the cache is via the Losen Slote trails anyway.
