Geocache Description:

This our not our second but THIRD cache at our squadron building. We had a little trouble with the first one walking off....and the second one being mistaken for a pipe bomb. Hopefully we have a little more luck with this one. This cache has been placed with the permission of our Squadron Commander. Please take your time and look around while you're out there.

The ultimate purpose of this cache is to bring you to the site of Civil Air Patrol Squadron 811. Civil Air Patrol is the auxiliary of the United States Air Force, and plays a big role in today's search and rescue. We have three main missions: Cadet Programs, Aerospace Education, and Emergency Services. If you are between the ages of 12 and 21, you are a "cadet"...similiar to ROTC, you work your way through rank and attend an assortment of military-oriented schools. Cadets are required to take tests on Leadership and Aerospace Education in order to gain rank. The program offers flight scholarships as well as free orientation flights. As far as Emergency Services goes, we conduct 95% of all inland Search and Rescue, as tasked by the US Air Force Rescue Coordination Center. This is one of the very few organizations where young people can get not only hands-on search and rescue training, but actual real-life missions. It has made a huge impact on both of our lives for the better =)

Happy caching!

- The Rangers of 811
