Blind houses are miniature lockups employed for the short term detention of miscreants. Although most could barely accommodate one although there are couple older. More information can be found in Mary Delorme's excellent book, Curious Wiltshire.
This "lock up" as it is known locally seems to have been missed on the original list and was pointed out to me by stanthews (I've also taken the liberty of using his photo - Many thanks).
I spent an excellent couple of hours with Chris of the Chens inside the lock up and touring the penal past of Devizes, seems it was a really wild place in the past. Access can be gained by appointment from the town clerks office and is well worth a visit. The place is dark, damp and would be quite a deterent I would imagine. The original doors and walls still have graffiti from previous residents. Pictures are in the gallery courtesy of Chris Chen.
