Dean Clough Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Penfolio: The woods have been trashed by some thoughtless buffoons. Some of the clues and the cache itself have been compromised.

Thanks to The Parkinsons for taking the time to retrieve what remained of the cache and contents.

Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the above co-ordinates. The clues to the final cache location are scattered around Dean Woods. All the clues are accessible using well marked footpaths.

Walking around Dean Woods, especially in the lower valley can sometimes be more of a challenge than you might expect. After the rain, a mixture of steep (but short) trails, leaf litter, exposed tree roots, mud and loose topsoil, a bunch of fallen trees, eroded tracks and slippery stepping stones all seemingly conspire to get you to stumble or fall. That said, it's a great little valley and, it's teeming with interest. Personally, I always enjoy the muddy days more than the dry days anyway. OK, so I'm overselling the difficulty but, unless it's been dry for a while, be sure to wear some sturdy boots/wellies.

The cache itself is a 30cal ammo can, full to bursting with goodies for younger cachers. To find the cache though, you'll need to visit the listed waypoints to pick-up clues. Only when you have all the clues will you be able to work out the actual cache location.

The cache is located at the following co-ordinates:
N 53 3 (A*F) . (E-(A+D+F)) (E-(A+D+F)) (A+D+F)
W 001 4 (E-(D+F+G) . (F+G) (A+D+F) (E-(A+D+F))

When first hidden the cache contained the following swap items:
A cross-stitch kit.
A pack of jumbo crayons.
A toy airplane.
A copperfoil crafts kit.
A pack of bright neon coloured pencils.
A 'bike buddy' all-in-one tool.
Two geocaching badges.

There's also a disposable camera in the cache. If there's enough light in the woods, please take a photo of yourselves and then place it back into the cache. Once the camera is full of snaps I'll get the film developed and upload the results.

There's also a pencil, pencil sharpener, logbook and stash card packed into the box, and there's an FTF certificate and badge for the FTF to take and keep.

N.B. I averaged a selection of co-ordinates over four days and could still only get to within about 20ft accuracy. You will be caching in woodland so, once you get close to the cache, be sure to engage your cachers sixth-sense. Please remember though, there's no need to do anything silly, I have not hidden the cache anywhere that is tricky/dangerous to get to - infact you need never leave the path in order to grab the cache.

FTF : stonefielders
