Wellamo Cache Raid 2009

The Karisalmi Bridge

This cache was created for the Wellamo Cache Raid 2009. On April 18th 2009 more than twenty cachers in the Päijänne Tavastia area decided to join forces and create a bunch of caches simultaneously to bring delight and despair to our fellow cachers.

A very traditional cache under the Karisalmi bridge in the Pulkkilanharju ridge formation, which is a unique glacial landscape feature crossing the lake Päijänne. From under the bridge there is an astounding view to the open lake on both sides. This is also a place where birdwatchers like to come to watch the arctic migration of birds. Most of the Pulkkilanharju ridge is worth seeing and almost all of it is part of the Päijänne National Park. On the northern side of the bridge there is a parkin area and a sign with information regarding the National Park and a nature trail starts here. Take your time to enjoy this extraordinary landscape.

There is a graffiti in the base of the bridge that is somewhat reminiscent of Vellamo, or what do you think...

Wellamo Cache Raid 2009 -kätkö. 18.4.2009 reilu parikymmentä Päijät-Hämäläistä kätköilijää yhdistivät voimansa ja julkaisivat kertaheitolla läjän kätköjä kanssakätköilijöitä ihastuttamaan ja vihastuttamaan.

Hyvin perinteinen kätkö Karisalmen sillan alla Pulkkilanharjulla, joka on ainutlaatuinen jääkauden synnyttämä harjumuodostelma Päijänteen poikki. Sillan alta on upea näköala järven selälle molemmille puolille. Myös lintuharrastajat tulevat usein tänne tarkkailemaan lintujen muuttoa. Koko Pulkkilanharju on näkemisen arvoinen ja lähes koko harju on osa Päijänteen kansallispuistoa. Sillan pohjoispuolella on parkkipaikka ja infotaulu, jossa on tietoa kansallispuistosta ja täältä alkaa myös luontopolku. Varaa kunnolla aikaa ja nauti tästä erikoislaatuisesta maisemasta.

Sillan perustuksissa on graffiti, joka mielestäni hieman muistuttaa Vellamoa, vai mitä sanot.
