Geocache Description:

Rayne Train Station opened in 1869 by Great Eastern Railway. It closed to passengers in 1952 and was finally closed permanently in 1964.

During the second world war the line was used to transport thousands of tons of rubble for the construction of sailing airfield 5 miles from Braintree, and later when it became operational massive loads of bombs were carried to the same destination under cover of darkness.

Rayne Station is now the visitors centre for the Flitch Way and is the working base for the Essex County Park Rangers who maintain the Flitch Way. The waiting room is a visitor centre with a model of the site in its heyday.

You will be looking for a 35mm film canister.

This area can become extremely busy, so please be cautious.
