The Straits Area
Geocachers will be hosting a Spring Campout/Geocache Fest from
Friday May 29th through Sunday May 31st 2009 in the Pigeon River
recreation area. The event will take place at the above
coordinates, which will bring you to the Round Lake
Campground. The Campground is semi-rustic and costs
$15/night. The event will kick off on Friday evening and last
through Sunday mid-day.
There are currently 37 individual geocaches in the immediate
vicinity with several more to be placed for this event. In
addition there are three awesome challenge series by
Pepsiman and Capt. Bud.
This will be a fantastic opportunity to meet and chat with fellow
cachers. There will be plenty of caching by day and fireside
stories by night. Come on out and catch a few smileys, grill
some dogs and make s’mores. If you’re hearty enough, take a
dip in Round Lake.
Even if you are unable to camp overnight night, drop in at any
time, visit a while, and do some cachin’.
Note: We have been told
that there will be a construction project at the Sturgeon River
Bridge on Sturgeon River Valley Road beginning in early April and
will last the entire summer. If you are approaching from the
west please plan on a detour.
