Geocache Description:

A cache hidden in a small woodland in the village of Cambridge, Glos.

Rosie’s Wood is a 6 acre wood created on private land in 1992 and named after Roseanne Raybone, a ballet teacher and choreographer who lived in Cambridge and taught locally.

To mark the millennium a trust was created to administer the woodland in perpetuity for the benefit of the local community.

The wood is almost an island having the old line of the river Cam on one side and the new line on the other. The new line was created in the early 80’s to protect the village from flooding.

The wood is now a much visited and enjoyed local amenity. Footpaths have been created through the maturing native hardwoods. This great local amenity was officially opened on 2nd June 2002 (The weekend of the Queens Golden Jubilee) by the Chief Executive of Stroud District Council.

The cache is a 1 litre snap lock container in a bag, large enough for reasonable size swaps.

There is limited roadside parking at N51 44.234 W002 22.217. Please do not block any gateways or the lane. From here you can either take the footpath along the river bank (roadside) or walk up the lane to the gate.

This cache has been placed by kind permission of the trustees, please respect the area.
