Geocache Description:

A cache that is at the end of of a path to a pretty waterfall in a rain forest.

This was one of my favourite walks whilst staying in Strahan for work.

You will start the walk in the Peoples Park and hopefully walk along the track to the falls. The main track is well made, reasonably flat and has several interpretive signs to makes the trek interesting for kids. The water falls are pretty.

My GPSr had difficulty finding satellites with the tree cover, steep valley location and frequent cloud cover so the posted co-ordinates are the results of many visits and averaging the results. If you want to trust your GPSr then ignore the rest of this description but to make it easier for the rest of us then, the next paragraph is a give away, plot revealing description.

Near the falls there is a steep slippery track on the right that goes uphill to the original tramway. Scramble up this track and stop at the T junction with the overgrown path (the tramway). Admire the waterfalls.... Then turn away from the falls and a couple of metres west there should be an apparent hiding place.....

Be careful walking down the steep path as it is slippery....and the sword grass is sharp. Have fun....

UPDATE 28 April 2021

We have decided to relocate the cache for reasons described in detail in our Maintenance Log.

The cache is now a 200mL sistema.

Whilst the difficulty and terrain are slightly less demanding than the original hide, we have decided to retain the initial values so as not to disadvantage anyone who has already found the cache and rely on the 2.5/3 ratings for challenges and other targets.

We have left the original cache description unchanged in respect of the original CO, CarrollEyre, for whom the original location had special significance.

Please take time to walk a little further to the magnificent Hogarth Falls.
