Name that Cache! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GeoCrater: I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no word from the owner in the month or more since the last reviewer note was posted. If you want to re-activate the cache during the next couple of months, please contact GeoCrater to see if that's possible. If the cache meets current guidelines, consideration will be given based on the circumstances surrounding the original archival.

NOTE: My preferred method of communication is through notes on the cache page in question. However, should you wish to use email - please do not select "reply". In general, a replay to the geocaching.com mail bot will not reach me. Instead, please go to your cache page and e-mail GeoCrater from the log there or email me directly at geocrater@gmail.com, referencing the cache URL, or waypoint number.

Additional translation added as I support a number of countries:

Geocache Description:

Terrain rating: You probably can get to it with a wheelchair, but I didn't want you to accidentally fall in nearby ditch.

Difficulty rating: Is due to needing a tool to retrieve it and how hard it is to open up this homemade cache container.

Can open at either end. Please unscrew all screw on one side at the same time for easier extraction of the log and put back together the same way for waterproofing... BRING YOUR OWN PEN!!!

Nearby the cache is this neat log on private property which you can temporarily park to check out the dates on the log...

This section of log was taken from one of the twin tops which broke off a Douglas Fir near here. The break was about 50 feet up the tree where the twin tops started. This section is about 297 years old. (You may count the rings yourself!)

The main tree is still growing on the Harris property. It is 11.5 feet in diameter at 5 feet above the ground. That means if a lower section of the mother tree were set on edge here, it would be nearly twice as high as the section of the twin top which you see. The tree is possibly 400 too 500 years old.

The living tree is not available to the public.

When you log your find: Give this cache a creative name, and remember this is a family show. I would love to see what people come up with for names.

Don't forget to check out the Harris covered bridge cache nearby. There is also a winery near here too.

Check out the pics of the cache container and plague of the log section.
