Geocache Description:

This is an easy stop and grab.

This farm was once operated by U & I sugar company. It was one of the premier sugar beet growers in the basin prior to selling the farm to AgriNorthwest Inc.
AgriNorthwest is the Farm Management property located in South/Central Washington State in the counties of Walla Walla and Benton. AgriNorthwest joined FMC’s management portfolio in 1998. Previously, the farm operated as a direct subsidiary of Deseret Management Corporation.

The farm currently irrigates under center pivot nearly 60,000 acres. The water is pumped directly from the Snake and Columbia Rivers through farm-owned pumping stations. The principal crop is potatoes, and the farm is viewed as an industry leader in the production of quality, high-yielding potatoes grown for global food processing giants. Other crops grown are apples, sweet corn, wheat, field corn, and bluegrass seed. In addition, AgriNorthwest operates a 4 million bushel grain storage facility, a modern soil testing lab, and on-farm potato storages with a capacity of more than 200,000 tons.
Next time you are enjoying a French fry or hash brown from McDonald’s think of this cache and the farm surrounding it. This location is a public parking area for the fish, wildlife and parks division of Washington State. There is nearly a section of public land here. The farm leases the ground from the state and in return provide hunting opportunities for the public. The crops coupled with the native terrain and vegetation has multiplied the wildlife populations several fold. Wildlife such as Mule deer, quail and pheasant are abundant in the area. The farm is also located on the Canadian goose flyway and large flocks of geese will land here in the fall and winter months feeding on the crop residue.
Go ahead and sign in and take a walk down the draws but be mindful of the farming operation and the traffic.
This cache is an easy find so no hints are needed. There is not much room for trade items just small items only.
Thanks and enjoy.
