Eighth of a series
of ten caches leading to an eleventh bonus cache around the
countryside near Lamberhurst. The walk is approximately 6½ miles and
for Cache 08 you are looking for a 400ml lock and lock box.
Remember to make a note of the clue in each cache which will be
needed for the bonus.
The pretty village
of Lamberhurst is now even more tranquil since the A21 has been
re-routed as a bypass. The walk starts at the car park in the
village centre and takes you into the surrounding countryside with
good views and past the excellent Elephant's Head pub at Hook
Green. The map below, if used in conjunction with the Ordnance
Survey Explorer map 136 should indicate which footpaths to take for
all eleven caches in the series and we recommend that the caches
are attempted in the order suggested.
The waypoints on the map above and in the table included in the
listing for Cache 01 are for parking and several points throughout
the whole route at which we felt the footpaths were indistinct or
not obvious so we've added a few directions. Kent Lost Pubs number
8 is between the parking and cache 01 so that's a bonus to start
with !
There are quite a few stiles and a couple of them are not very dog
friendly. The views are good, and in the spring there are plenty of
lambs in the fields. We set this series the week before Easter and
saw our first bluebells.
Oh ! - If you want to sing and dance all the way around the walk,
that's fine. It may cover up your geocaching activities !
