Located in the Mongaup Valley Wildlife Management Area - Mongaup Falls access site.
We are priviledged to have permission to place this cache within this Wildlife Management Area. Previously, caches were not permitted at all and now are allowed only with special permission by the NYSDEC. Since this is the first one here, we HIGHLY request that cachers be on their best behavior, follow rules and regulations and help promote geocaching in a positive light. This cache and it's logs will be reviewed by the DEC to determine if this cache can continue. If there is any problem what so ever, this cache will be removed immediately.
You are only allowed in this area from April 1st - November 30 th, so this is a seasonal only cache. Please be respectful of these restrictions. Actual container will be removed during off season, so there isn't even a temptation! Cache is located no more than 50 ft. off the side of a very nice trail leading along the water. Please tread lightly so as not to trample a trail to the cache.
As the sign states, this is an Endangered Species Critical Area and public cooperation is necessary in order to protect our endangered wildlife and it's habitat. In keeping with the protection of the habitat, we encourage cachers to please cache in and trash out.
