Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is a one stage multi with the final cache being a short walk away from the first stage. All you need to do is visit the first stage and collect the coordinates and then on to the final. This may sound simple but the first stage is the tricky bit, you will require some equipment to retrieve the information but I will leave this up to you to use your own ingenuity.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FIRST STAGE MAY REQUIRE MORE THAN ONE TRIP TO COMPLETE.
THERE IS NO NEED TO PULL , PUSH, TURNOVER ANY OF THE SURROUNDING AREA.
THIS CACHE IS DESIGNED TO TEST THE CACHER’S INGENUITY AND FORWARD THINKING WITH THE USE OF LOCAL RESORSES.
Both stages are located in the an area of the South Caradon Mine. This side of Caradon hill is littered with mine workings and engine houses, such as the one at Jope’s Shaft (1862; subsequently the site of the last man-engine to be built in Cornwall in 1872) and at Holman’s Shaft (1875), form distinctive landmarks. The mine’s well-preserved cobbled dressing floor can still be seen in the valley floor. The original shafts were Jopes Shaft, Rule North Shaft, Rule South Shaft, Kittows Shaft and Sumps Shaft. Sumps Shaft was very deep at 457 meters (1500 feet)
I have listed some pictures of the area you will be visiting. One of the first stage container and a picture of the final location.
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE AWAY ANY SECRETS TO THIS CACHE IN YOUR LOGS.
