This is my first ever cache and has been placed in memory of my wonderful Dad who passed away on the 5th April a few years ago. He was our "Lion", strong but gentle, and is sadly missed.
The cache is located in a park on the old Gatton - Helidon Road, next to the Lockyer Creek, 6 kilometres west of Gatton. Turn off the Warrego Highway into Gatton and follow the signs to Toowoomba.
The park is fairly flat and easily accessed. It has all the facilities including toilets, picnic and BBQ areas, plus play equipment for the geokids. So take the scenic route to Toowoomba instead, and stop for a picnic on the way.
However, this park along with a lot of this whole region was devastated in the massive and tragic floods of January 2011. The play equipment has been restored, as have the BBQ facilities and the toilets.
