Geocache Description:

This cache is located near the gated hard surface road in the Grafton Ponds Natural Area Preserve of Newport News Park.

The cache is a 6"x6" Lock- N- Lock container. It can be reached from either Gate F4 at the intersection of Fort Eustis Boulevard and Richneck Road or from the National Park Service gate at the end of Siege Lane. If you approach from the Siege Lane gate there is NO PARKING at this gate. The closest parking is a short distance away at Yorktown Elementary School (after school hours only). This gated road is now used primarily by bicyclists on their way to and from Yorktown and by Edgehill residents walking and exercising their dogs. Before the current Fort Eustis Boulevard was built, this road was Fort Eustis Boulevard and afterward it became Old Fort Eustis Boulevard. In the Geocaching world it is known as “The Boulevard to Nowhere, Too!” (GCRAQH). According to Google Earth it is “Warwick Road”. Today, it remains a decaying, narrow, winding road with poor drainage and no official name. We think of it as the “Lonesome Road”.

The posted coordinates will get you close enough to ground zero to let your geosenses to take over. Please rehide the cache as well as or better than you found it.

This cache has been approved by and registered with
