Geocache Description:

There is a parking area next to the Cache. This is public parking next to a boat house owned by City of Belfast. BYOP

This area is where Penobscot Poultry used to be, When Belfast was dubbed the Chicken Capitol of the World with a annual broiler festival for over 30 years. This was all before MBNA ( Now Bank of America) bought the property in the late 90's and tore it all down. The company then built a boat house and beautiful park with green grass and a Gazebo near by. After time, the company gave this property to the city. Now, this is a great area for folks to park, relax and take in the view. And now a waterfront walking trail. At one time, near by, where this cache lies, in the Late 70's there stood a multi Colored one room House made from driftwood of which an older man lived. It was known that he would trade chickens that got loose from the nearby factory for a bottle or two of Adult beverage. Times changed and progress was made?I believe he was force out and I am not sure of the history of the ending of this house, but I do remember someone wrote a book about the house and the man. Although I cant seem to find out much about it. You need to be very stealthy on this one.

Now, In the summer time, lots of activity near by in the park, there is events, music, festivals that take place. Sometimes an occasional auction or wedding takes place at the boat house.
