Geocache Description:

This cache is made up of 8 clues in Cockenzie high street. When all found, they should lead up to the final coordinates located out of town. The place where the cache is can be driven up to, where it would only be a 5 minute walk

This multi cache takes place in the high street of Cokenzie and Port Seton. It consists of 8 clues which, when found will lead you to the location of where the geocache is hidden. The distance of the clues is not very far and can probably all be found within 15 minutes. The actual cache it self is about a mile away so you may want to drive up to it or you can walk if you feel up to it. So, I wish you good hunting.

The first thing to do is to go and get parked. There is a co-op in Port Seton just of Edinburgh Road, on your left if you are coming from Longniddry or on your right if you are coming from Prestonpans. Its coordinates are N55.58.290 W002.57.155.

The first clue is not that far away from the co-op. If you face the sea you should see a wee road heading towards the harbour. If you go down it, you should pass a fish and chips shop and see a small building, which is a café. If you go to the side of the building you should see a tile mural. It is got a sea theme to it to go with the harbour. Your first clue is how many letters are there in the name of the ship on the life ring? This will be known as A. Its coordinates are N55.58.331 W002.57.205

The next clue is just a bit further down the high street. If you walk down the street which runs next to the sea, you should eventually see a bed and breakfast. The building has Elcho Place carved into it. The clue is how many letters are there in the name of the bed and breakfast? This will be known as B. It is located at coordinates N55.58.303 W002.57.411.

The third clue is located at coordinates N55.58.289 W002.57.515. As you may start to notice, many of the buildings have dates carved onto them to say what year they were built. The next clue is one of these dates but it is unusual because it also has a carving of a shell next to it. The building it is carved onto is a light brown colour with the name Bayne Place on it. The clue is what is the last digit of the year. This will be known as C. The year should be 190C.

The next clue is located at the pub just a bit further down at coordinates N55.58.290 W002.57.557. It is called the Thorntree inn. The clue is how many hanging signs are there hanging out front? This will be known as D

The fifth clue is just a few steps away from the pub at coordinates N55.58.284 W002.57.586. If you go down you should see a post box. Opposite this post box is a house called the post house. The clue is what is the last digit of the number of this post house? This will be known as E. It should look like 9E.

The sixth clue is just a bit further up at coordinates N55.58.266 W002.57.674. At these coordinate you shall find a building with a clock at the top. However, the clock seems to have broken down many years ago and is stuck eternally at the time 22 past 11. On the same building there is the carving of another year with the carving of 2 hands shaking. The clue is what is the last digit of the year? This will be known as F. It should look like this: 189F.

The seventh clue is surprisingly located at the hairdressers, coordinates N55.58.250 W002.57.711. Beside the entrance to the salon is a plaque. It was put there to commemorate the unveiling of the plaque on the centuries old Burgh charter to Cockenzie. The clue is how many hundred years old is this anniversary? This will be known as G.

The eighth and final clue is located at coordinates N55.58.249 W002.57.814. If you go down the street a bit further, you should see a small garden on your right. If you go to the other side of this garden you should see an information board. It will state that the 2 reasons Cockenzie originated were because of coal and the ? The final clue is how many letters are there (excluding `the`) are there in one of the 2 keys of Cockenzie? This will be known as H.
