Geocache Description:

A circular path through a Karst landscape.

Exit a motorway in Kozina, then follow the old road to the South. In Ocizla there is a marked parking area (see auxiliary waypoints) with a signpost and a map of the area. See also map at geopedia.si

A tourist association ŠKTD Zveza Ocizla has laid a circular path (see map below), visiting Karst phenomena and other attractions of the area: shafts, caves, a natural bridge over Miškotova cave. The path follows or crosses streams and visits waterfalls including the waterfall of a stream Korošica falling into the abyss of Meletova cave and continuing its way underground in the reverse direction under its own stream bed! Caves can not be visited without special equipment, except for (conditionally) the Ocizeljska (Ocijska) jama, which is accessible through a 100 m tunnel from a nearby Blažev spodmol (a flashlight is needed, crouching in places, watch your head).

On the return, the path markings give two choices: a shorter direct return to the Ocizla village, or a longer one which leads past World War I remains: caverns, bunkers and trenches, and another waterfall Cumpet.

The "Tigrovska pot" path is well laid and well marked, just follow closely spaced yellow "O" marks all the time. In a wet season it can be muddy in places, so wear suitable shoes. Don't let children leave the path near caves.

The path is laid in remembrance of the TIGR (abbreviation for Trst, Istra, Gorica, Reka), an anti-Fascist patriotic insurgent organization, active in the 1920s and the 1930s in the region known as the Julian March (Julijska Krajina). A TIGR group of local people from Ocizla operated in the area between years 1932 and 1940, when they were arrested.

The cache is a 0.8 litre plastic box (11 x 18 x 4 cm). Satellite reception may be poor due to foliage, don't let searching lead you into danger, access to the cache is not difficult.

Following the "Tigrovska pot" sign in the vicinity of a parking area it takes about 40 minutes from Ocizla to the cache, and one hour for the return (short variant), and almost an additional hour for the long variant (WWI remains, Cumpet waterfall). See map.

Avtocesto zapustimo v Kozini in nadaljujemo po stari cesti proti morju. V vasi Ocizla je označeno parkirišče (glej pomožne koordinate), ob njem so smerokazi in tabla z zemljevidom okolice in označeno potjo.

Glej zamljevid.
