Cache released as part of the "Cartoon Cache Series" for the “Rippin ‘Round the Red: Looney Toons Poker Run” geo-event May 2009.
The cache is located a short distance off the Confederation Trail and no bushwacking is required.
SPEEDY GONZALES
Speedy Gonzales, "The Fastest Mouse in all Mexico", was created by Robert McKimson and Friz Freleng, and made his debut in the 1953 cartoon, "Cat-Tails for Two". Sylvester (often called 'El Greengo Pussygato' by Speedy) was his early nemesis, and was often outsmarted and outrun by the mouse, causing the cat to suffer all manner of pain and humiliation from mousetraps to accidently consuming large amounts of hot sauce. Daffy Duck replaced Sylvester as the main nemesis in the 1960s. Speedy was often paired with his mouse cousin, Slowpoke Rodriquez, "the slowest mouse in all Mexico". In 1962, pop singer Pat Boone scored a top 10 hit in the US with the song, "Speedy Gonzales", which featured Mel Blanc spouting faux-Mexican phrases. A catch phrase often heard in Speedy's cartoons was "Arriba! Arriba! Andale! Andale" (colloquial Mexican Spanish for 'Hurry Up! Come On!').
