Geocache Description:

FTF was tootsieroll1 w/digger14! A match stick container at an old information station in Boggy Depot State Park. Log only so please take your own pen. It is now neat a covered picnic area with the information board removed.

Created by an act of Congress March 8. 1857, the Butterfield Overland Mail was the first transcontinental service. At that time, Boggy Depot was the Capitol of the Choctaw Nation and maintained one of two Post Offices on the route.
The Depot became a bustling community in 1838. Please take time to read the information stations and literature available.to find out several things about Oklahoma, this site, Rev. Kingsbury, Allen Wright, Chickasaws and Choctaws, Civil War use, the first Masonic Lodge and other interesting facts of Indian and Civil War history. A great quiet place to hike, camp, and picnic. Very interesting cemetery in the park that is on the National Register of Historical Places and Oklahoma's List of Oldest Historical Places
