I have hiked this trail many times in the past with my family, my kids and their school mates and Boy Scouts. When I first started hiking this trail 10 years ago you could see my house from the clearing at the top but the trees have grown too much for that now, so thought there should be another reason for coming up here. I have signed the trail log at the top many times and decided on this hike with the boys from Troop 599 in Eatonville to put a cache up here to give us Cachers another log to sign. You can reach the Peak by road or by trail, it is about 4 miles round trip from the upper parking lot if you take the trail. You go south on the 1000 road to start and then take the Hugo Peak trail up the hill. You will also pass 2 other caches hidden along this trail (Raven Talk and cache B of Cool Caches Big Forest) so you might as well find them if you haven’t already. If you take the kids know that parts of the trail are strenuous and if you want to bike you have to stay on the road, just follow the 1000 road and you can make a loop of it. It is a fun ride down!
You will be looking for a peanut butter jar container hidden along a trail at the top. Enjoy the hike and another reason to be in Pack Forest.
