During the summer months you will find the terrain a bit more challenging & may require some bushwhacking as the grasses, weeds & sticker bushes thrive. In the off season it is not as bad but wear a lot of bug spray.
As you walk around the area you will encounter some of the local ducks & geese. Please keep in mind that in the spring time & many of our feathered friends are newly weds : > ) & nesting so they can be very protective. Keep an eye on them because if you get close to where they are setting up house they WILL get aggressive & go into protective mode by coming after you. I know this from 1st hand experience.
Keep in mind that there are some other critters that are around here too so be careful when searching in less than full view locations.
While you are here you may want to visit the mews area which is by the visitor center, where there are some of the beautiful creatures that live here because they can no longer live in the wild for 1 reason or another. Remember that they are still wild so do not stick your fingers in the cages or poke or throw things at them.
Below are waypoints for the gates to the aviary area. ENJOY!
