Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS PLACED IN A VERY HIGH MUGGLE AREA!
Magnetic key holder on a pole. EXTREME STEALTH IS REQUIRED!

This cache will be easy to find, the difficulty level will be -NOT GETTING CAUGHT! I would recommend tying your shoe at the location or reading the two markers here on the ground to comemorate union soldiers killed during the 1863 raid.

Proir to the American Civil War, Bloody Kansas raged. Skirmishes across the states borders were commonplace. The Jayhawkers took it too far when they arrested a group of young girls and women and then imprisoned them in a warehouse in Westport,KS. They were arrested to get even with the Missouri bushwackers who had been conducting raids into KS. The weather was cold and the Union soldiers began to remove the wooden columns to burn in their campfires. The warehouse could not stand the strain in its weaken state and collapsed, killing many of the women and maiming several for the rest of their lives. William Clarke Quantrills sister was among the dying. This event sparked rage in Quantrill and he retaliated by conducting a raid on the Jayhawker stronghold of Lawrence,Ks in 1863. It was at this very place that he inacted his revenge. Several soldiers were killed in this raid and the town of Lawrence, KS was burned to the ground. The Civil war was bloody but the border war was personal. Now you know why it was Lawrence,Ks that Quantrill sacked and the reasons behind the raid.

EXTREME STEALTH IS REQUIRED I would ask that you walk away to sign the log and bring it back and use stealth at all times. VERY HIGH MUGGLE AREA!
