Die "Weiße Wand" von Dobis


Deutsche Version

Die "Weiße Wand" von Dobis ist ein seit 1979 unter Schutz gestellter Aufschluss, der am Nordostrand der Mansfelder Mulde liegt. Durch die kreidezeitliche Hebung des angrenzenden Halleschen Vulkanitkomplexes wurden hier die Schichten aus der ursprünglichen Horizontalen in eine Schräglage von etwa 50° aufgeschleppt. Das Schichtenfallen ist nach Südwesten, zum jenseits der Saale gelegenen Kern der Mansfelder Mulde gerichtet. Die "Weiße Wand" ist ein steingewordenes Dokument des Wechsels der Klima- und Ablagerungsbedingungen zur Zeit des Übergangs vom Rotliegenden zum Zechstein.

Dobis liegt am östlichen Saaleufer und ist ein Ortsteil von Dößel. Regelmäßige Hügel prägen hier die Landschaft und alte Halden verweisen auf die Bergbautradition dieser Region. Bis vor etwa 100 Jahren wurden hier Kupferschiefer und Steinkohle abgebaut. Dobis liegt in einer bergbauhistorischen Gegend mit Erosionstälern und Restgehölzen.

Hier kann man in nördlicher Richtung an der Saale entlang wandern und zwischen Dobis und Rothenburg verläuft der Saaleradweg, welchen man über ca. 2 km Landstraße und die Fähre nach Rothenburg erreicht.

Parken könnt ihr bei
N 51° 36.956 E 011° 45.887.

Vom Parkplatz sind es etwa 120 Meter bis zum Fuß der "Weißen Wand".

Von hier aus könnt ihr auch einem Naturlehrpfad folgen.

Um diesen Earthcache zu loggen, müsst Ihr folgende Aufgaben erfüllen:
  • Begebt Euch zu den angegebenen Koordinaten.
  • Teilt mir mit, was im Meer und in Wüstengebieten entstanden ist. Nennt mir die 4 Begriffe.
  • Teilt mir weiterhin mit, wie viele Gesteinsschichten prägend für die Region sind. Die Anzahl reicht!

The "White Wall" of Dobis


English Version

The "White Wall" of Dobis ia a natural section which is protected by law since 1979. It is situated on the north-eastern edge of the Mansfeld depression. Because of the rise of of the bordering volcano complex of Halle in the Cretaceous period its strata raised up by about 50°. The strata fall to the southwest, to the centre of the Mansfeld depression on the other side of the river Saale. The "White Wall" is a stone document of the chance of climate and sedimentation during the period from “Rotliegendes” to “Zechstein”.

Dobis lies on the eastern banks of the river Saale and is a part of the village Dößel. Regular hills form the landscape and old slagheaps refer to the mining traditions in this region. Cooper shale and hard coal were mined here until about 1900. Dobis is situated in a historical mining countryside with valleys of erosion and last coppice.

You can walk to the north along the river Saale. Between Dobis and Rothenburg there is the cycleway “Saaleradweg” which you can reach via 2km country road and the ferry to Rothenburg.

You can park near
N 51° 36.956 E 011° 45.887.

From the parking place it is a 120m walk to the bottom of the "White Wall".

From here you can follow a natural trail.

In order to log this Earthcache you must do the following tasks:
  • Go to the given coordinates.
  • Tell me the four expressions of what was developed in the sea and in the deserts.
  • Then tell me how many strata characterize the region. Give only the number!
