Geocache Description:

Answer 8 Gettysburg questions, find 4 waypoints which will lead you to the cache. Should be fairly straight forward for history buffs. Everyone else....maybe not so easy. (Low-mileage equations added 5/31/10; calculate cache coordinates without the 4 waypoints!)

Alas, the cache is not on Cemetery Island in Wachusett Reservoir. (That would be pretty cool, huh?) The published coordinates are just a place holder.

Begin by answering the eight Gettysburg questions. If you are not a history buff you may need the clues.

Each answer is one word. (Robert E. Lee is just "Lee". Yale University is just "Yale") Take the numeric value of the first letter (A=1, B=2 etc) of each answer to calculate the location of the four waypoints. (Example: He wrote the Gettysburg address.... Lincoln .... L....12.)

You can now forgo the waypoints by using the low-mileage equations.

Each waypoint will provide a date. Use the four dates to determine the location of the cache.

Everything is within 10 miles of Northborough Center.

A) This general visited himself on occasion at a museum in D.C.
B) This general invented a game. Well maybe not.
C) This famous neighbor was born in 1890.
D) This general was not a cul-de-sac.
E) This very famous engineer was at Little Round Top.
F) Lee was without intelligence for quite a while because of this general.
G) Lee could have really used this general, who had died earlier that year.
H) A heroic union general at Little Round Top became president of this college. (6/4/09 note; he was not yet a general at Gettysburg)
