Hid in an peanut butter jar, this cache is hid not far off a trail along Wood Lake. There is the usual logbook, pencil & geocache note, as well as the stash and a FTF prize. Please replace as found so it doesn't slide out into the open.
The FTF prize, an unactivated TB tag, is to cover both this cache and the Teddy Bears' Picnic cache which should be published on the same day. When activating your TB, please use the name "Groundhog & Shadow" at the front of the TB's name in some way. Looking forward to seeing its journey once the FTF cacher releases it. Thanks.
You have to be on the lakeshore trail to find the cache and not the rail trail. You can't go direct from the rail trail because of the old fence so you are better off getting on it by doing the Teddy Bear Picnic cache first and staying down there. This trail is great to walk your dog or find a secluded beach or fishing spot.
Wood Lake is a popular lake for water skiing and fishing, and is joined to Kalamalka Lake by a canal in Oyama which boaters can travel on. In the winter, the lake along the highway is busy with ice fishermen trying their luck. Regretably there was a drowning accident of an ice fisherman only a few weeks ago and not too far from here.
**Checked coords and came up with N50 06.103 W199 22.084 this time, but either one should get you there.
