Geocache Description:

An easy quiz and a scenic paddle.

This cache is located along Milldam Creek and can only be reached via kayak or canoe. Milldam Creek passes through tidal wetlands that are further classified based on tidal properties and composition and structure of vegetation. The eastern portions of the Creek are considered Tidal Bald Cypress Forests and Woodlands. To obtain the coordinates for the cache, you will have to find out which of the following statements about this ecological community is incorrect:
  1. Stand structure and canopy cover range from closed forest to very open woodland. ( N 36° 34.679 W 076° 4.954')
  2. Coniferous or mixed swamp forests and woodlands dominated by bald cypress are known only from the upper tidal reaches of rivers in southeastern Virginia. (N 36° 34.653' W 076° 4.987')
  3. The embayed regions of southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina are no longer influenced by lunar tides because of inlet closures. (N 36° 34.620' W 076° 5.102')
