The Western Area Demil Facility was built during the 1974-1976 time period and was designed to break down and salvage older military weapon components such as bombs,
and mines. This facility was deemed necessary because open air detionaton was no longer approved by the State of Nevada and it is now considered one of the finest in the world. It is now used almost around the clock and area lighting is visible at night. By all means do not venture inside the fenced area. This area is generally patrolled 24/7. First to find gets the Sacajawea coin.
