Placed just a short distance away from my previously muggled
"Healthy Secret" I'm keeping my fingers crossed in the hope this
smaller cache will last longer
During the cold war the Royal Observer Corps sat waiting for a
possible nuclear strike in secret underground bunkers around the UK
– these nuclear bunkers ensured the occupants were protected and
allowed them to warn the country of an imminent attack, if the
worst happened they could also safely monitor and communicate the
status of any nuclear fallout at ground level.
The cache is quite close to the location of one such bunker,
sadly all that remains of it now is a big hole which has been
filled in with farm waste. Assuming you are completing the series
in numerical order when you walk over to #13 see if you can spot
the three telegraph poles which were used for the bunker – two of
them are located along the footpath.
According to a survey carried out by Subterranea Britannica this
particular bunker opened in 1961 and was closed in 1975
