Whitcastles is a small out of the way picnic spot in a really beautiful location off a road which is a joy in its self.
Whitcastles is a great location for a walk or just to sit in peace and quiet and admire the views.
From this spot there some other interesting places to venture to. There is another picnic spot at a pond just 1100m away clearly marked with a pointer post and gate. Also about 1.5 miles away further into the forest there is a huge stone circle at 55.181076N 3.220127W.
For those interested in nature this area is full of life with Siskins, Crossbills, Goshawks, Buzzards and Roe deer. While placing the geocache we had a Fox walk by plus a Hare and some Partridges further down the track.
This is the first cache in this area. Its a plastic food box and Homer is waiting to be found!
