Geocache Description:

A hike past one fort from the First World War and up a rather beautiful mountainside, will bring you to this fort with breathtaking views of surrounding valleys on all sides.

This area is full of forts and battlegrounds from the First World War, and along the way to this cache you will pass another. Ft Spitz is located at the top of a ridgeline overlooking what was an opposing fort, Forte Busa Verle. The hike will take approximately an hour and a half from the hotel parking area, passing through meadows, forests, and above treeline tundra. Truly remarkable views from the top, approximately 6,200 feet above sea level. Cache was placed during the winter, so it can be accessed year round. Be sure to bring a camera, and appropriate apparel for the trek, as weather and conditions can always change rapidly.
Be sure to research the area's history, as it was an area of great significance during World War 1.
