Another quick ride or stroll to the fourth in the series of
caches we've placed along this tributary system. Toongabbie Creek
begins it's journey at Toongabbie where Blacktown, Greystanes and
Pendle Creeks meet to form Toongabbie Creek. Here you can also find
our 1st cache in the series
Kayla's Cache.
It then twists and turns its way past two more of our cache
placements in PLUGS LEADS &
THINGYMEJIGSand DEAD
WOOD.
It then flows on past several historic weirs and ever eastward
to join the Parramatta River tidal reaches at the Charles St
Wharf.
When we placed the cache we began our ride from Mons Rd,
Westmead and cycled along a forgotton section of public tracks
behind the Coke factory and their neighbours, eventually arriving
in a newly worked section of boardwalk and gardens still in the
making.
You could also enter from Redbank Rd, Northmead.
Formed pathways both sides of the creek will get you to GZ but
on the south side you may need to cross the creek at a concrete
weir close to GZ, be prepared to get your feet wet if you come this
way. Don't cross in times of rain.
Finally when standing at GZ take a look down stream (eastwards)
and you can get a glimpse of what things must have looked like 200
years ago when these lands were first settled, quite different from
the surrounds of today.
The cache is a 400ml Sistema container big enough for small
swaps it contains assorted keyrings and a small carabiner as well
as an assortment of batteries and the regular parafonalia.
Pencil only so bring a writing stick if you want, and don't put
the pencil in the bag thats how the bags end up with holes in
them!
Happy Caching
