Richford, tucked up in the northeast corner
of Franklin County, Vermont, retains its largely rural character.
The rolling hills and farmland along the banks of the Missisquoi
River descending from Canada, support forests, wildlife and
homesteading. The town has four-season recreation with access to
nearby lakes and mountains. The Missisquoi River Valley Rail Trail
stretches 26 miles from Richford to St. Albans. Cyclists, hikers,
cross country skiers and snowmobilers delight in the scenic beauty
of the trail. The State Snowmobile trail comes right into Richford
and continues on into Quebec, Canada. Richford is surrounded by
several ski resorts. Jay Peak is only 15 miles away. Mount Sutton
in Quebec is 7 miles away. Bromont, Owl's Head, Stowe and Smugglers
Notch are all within an hour of Richford. With a population of only
2,200, Richford affords a quaint small town feel, but is large
enough to have good schools, shops, restaurants, and health
care.
