There is a fantastic
open air theatre at the given location. If you make a day of it you
could
pull in a show,
otherwise forget it, it won’t help you trace this saint’s
blessing.
A
Titan’s Bib,
(Local
Hostelry)
This celebrated saint
of a Rutland Village has no church to her dedication but only a
well
and a shrine built in
her honour in 1058 and a modern street named after her in
1974.
It is now above 700
years, since she was taken out of her grave there and carried
to
Peterborough
Church by Abbot Elfin. The inhabitants there have still an
obscure
memorial
of her, but have lost her name. They call her Queen and say she
used to
walk up
to Tibbal's hill, and wash in a spring there.
You will need to find
the saint’s spring (shown below) to receive her blessing and you
should take steps to find it quickly. An engraved fragment of gold
within a stone's throw of the spring will guide you. The
Vegan Deist will give you a grid reference, but you might need to
replace two missing rings, one fore and one aft, to see
it. There is a replica fragment of gold about 400 feet NNE of
the spring, if you can't find the one at your feet but please don't
walk on the spring or remove any of the stones. This is an ancient
place so please respect it.
