Geocache Description:

Cache is not at the posted coordinates!

A puzzle/multicache along one of our favorite San Diego trails. Maybe the "locals" can "help" you find it.

November 1, 2009 update Thanks to feedback from BlackAce, it appears there were a couple of problems with the clues. It turns out the dictionary we got from the Interpretive center had some mistakes. We picked up a new one and have fixed the clues. We also updated the type of bush based on where the container is hidden. We also repaired all the containers.

The Kumeyaay Native Americans are sub-divided into the Ipai (the northern dialectical form) and the Tipai (the southern dialectical form) and the Kamia (the eastern dialectical form)

The Ipai lived in the territory extending from the San Diego River (approximately Interstate 8) north to Agua Hedionda Lagoon (approximately State Highway 78) and then eastward through Escondido to Lake Henshaw. The Tipai lived south of the San Diego River into Baja south of Ensanada, and eastward to the Laguna Mountains and beyond Mount Tecate.

The Kumeyaay, also known as the Diegueño, have lived in the greater San Diego and northern Baja California Mexico area for at least 12,000 years. Following the Mexican Revolution, California became part of Mexico in 1821. By that time, most of the coastal land, including this area, had been carved up and the Indians evicted.

For a great hands-on experience, visit the Kumeyaay-Ipai Interpretive Center at Pauwai. It is well worth the time to visit when they are open on Saturday mornings:

Lots more information on the Kumeyaay can be found at:

Parking: Unless there are soccer or softball games in progress, there is plenty near: N32°59.290 W117°07.761

On your way along the trail to WP1, be sure to stop and read this sign at: N32°59.178 W117°07.999. It will give you a bit more information about the Ipai who lived in the area long ago.

WP1:
This is in a camo'd 35mm film container hidden in the trail side of the huusik plant, at roughly eye level, that can be found between these coordinates along the trail.

hamok hewok | saarup nimhamook | hamhook hemuk
'ehink 'ehink pehkai | chiphook | hamok hamok chepap
and
hamok hewok | saarup nimhamook | pehkai hewok
'ehink 'ehink pehkai | chiphook | hamok 'ehink chiphook

Inside you will find the missing pieces needed to figure out the coordinates for the final cache.

Final cache:
This is in a camo'd Koolade container.
hamok hewok | saarup nimhamook | chepap
'ehink 'ehink pehkai | chiphook | something something something
The missing pieces are hidden in WP1. You wrote them down when you found the container, right?

(note: it might be worth bringing along the cheat sheet you used to find WP1 to use with the clue in WP1)
