Geocache Description:

At last year's "Hunt and Munch" event the "Who Cares Who Wins" team spotted this odd structure whilst whizzing by in the car.

Although we didn't win the main prize at the event we did win some things which we thought we would put together in a cache and hide it for others to find. (Sorry it's taken so long to get round to it though - thought we'd better get it set before this years event!)

Where better to put it than within sight of this strange thing that we had seen! Look SW from the cache site and you will see it. Last year we thought it was a giant thistle sculpture, however when I saw it again today I immediately realised what it was because I had read about this place in the Scotsman a few Saturdays ago.

It is a sculpture - a 12 metre high one of a ten-headed orchid (unfortunately you only see the back of it from here). It's called "Love Bomb" and was created by Marc Quinn. However, it is actually only one of many sculptures to be found in the grounds of Bonnington House, and which are part of a new sculpture garden called "Jupiter Artland" due to open this May. The newspaper article, and a photo of the sculpture from the front, can be found here: (visit link) The park's website is: (visit link)

I hope that seeing this sculpture, even from the rear, inspires you to visit the garden when it opens - it sounds as if it's going to be well worth a visit.

I'm afraid you will have to decide where you feel comfortable parking for this one - I parked at the entrance to a field just after the last house on the left down the lane off the B7030, but my car is only small and access wasn't blocked.

Best way to approach the cache site is by walking around the wooded area - at the edge of the field.

Please also note that the area immediately surrounding the cache has loops of wire, some of which are barbed, around it. For this reason please do not let children run ahead to find this one on their own. The hiding place was too good not to use though!
