Geocache Description:

A peaceful spot with a small waterfall along the Mason Rail Trail.  This is the first in the "Model Railroading" series. You may want to find  this one before trying any of the others.

There is something about a walk down an old railroad bed that brings back memories of my youth.

When I was younger my brothers and I had a set of HO trains. The name H0 is derived from the fact that its 1:87 scale is approximately half that of 0 (zero) scale which was more common at the time but we liked the HO scale for it's detail and it's smaller size. Although back then we didn't add much detail to our scenes, we were only interested in firing missles from the missle cars and trying to hit the spring loaded houses that would explode on impact, but I have always admired the model railroading scenes with all it's lifelike detail and yet so small. Hmmm . . . Maybe that explains my facination for micros?

Well I never did get to finish my model railroad but every year I take out part of the train set to accompany Mrs Hakawee's Christmas village.

I try to tell her that her people are not true to scale, that they are in fact about ten feet tall but she just says it's HER village and she LIKES it that way.

Someday I will finish my model railroad but in the meantime I'll just continue to walk these railtrails gathering inspiration, and of course . . caches!
