Geocache Description:

Can be wet under foot, so wear good footwear. This can be done as short walk parking up near The Bu (house).

It can be done as a longer walk, Head for St Margaret's Hope through the village and leaving it by the B9043 and park at the Sand of Wright. Follow the road passing Myrtle Villa and arriving at The Bu. Go straight on through the gated grassy track to the large foundations and structures of buildings. This is the Balfour Battery which dates from 1940 and forms the first line of defence of Scapa Flow. The many buildings and bunkers sit along the highest point of the headland. The buildings are unsafe to enter, but you can close enough to look inside. if you go through the kissing gate, to the cliff walk take care as the path goes close to the dangerous cliffs.
The Braeheadbounders ( cache hidders sister) will maintain this cache for the HIGHAM 5, thank you.
