A multi-cache based around some disused Mines near Hewaswater.
The route includes gentle slopes, a stile and muddy paths.
Roadside parking available at coordinates listed above.
A number of mines worked a variety of metals (including tin, copper, cobalt, nickel, arsenic, lead and uranium) in this area from the 1850’s until the early 1900’s. The engine house and chimney of Ventonwyn Mine are the ones visible from the A390. All that remains of Great Dowgas and St Austell Consols Mines are the chimney stacks and shafts and your quest to the cache will give you views of both!

N 50 D(B+E). BE(A+B) W 004 ED.E(C+D)D
There is NO need to stray from the public footpath or cross any fences to find the cache. UNCAPPED mine shafts lurk behind many of the fences. The chimney stacks are on PRIVATE land with no public right of way, so please don’t be tempted to trespass to get a better look!
As well as the usual trinkets, there is also a £1 coin for FTF!
