Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Kittitas County Off-Leash 'Park.' We tentatively say "park" because this area is undeveloped or considered' naturale,' but it is open to the public to enjoy. There are several ponds and trails all throughout the area. And it is right along the Yakima River. A beautiful setting to spot wildlife or watch the fishermen.

***GEOCACHE REPLACED (again) 6/12/2014***

We have rated the terrain at a 2.5 because the trail can often be slippery when wet and there are several trees down over the path. Also, there are some muddy, mushy areas in wet seasons. But for a dog, no problemo!

Warning: Also due to recent flooding and debris, much of the fencing has been knocked down. But you and your four-legged friends will most likely be hanging around the ponds and river, so it may not be an issue.

It is just a few minutes off I-90 and I-82 near the entrance to the Yakima River Canyon (SR 821). To get there take I-90 Exit 109 in Ellensburg and go south on Canyon Road for several miles, then take a right on Ringer Loop (south turn-off). Or take Exit 3 on head west on Thrall Road, then turn North on SR 821/Canyon Road, and Ringer Loop will be your first left.

PARKING: We often park around the corner where there is rail fencing. It is near our other cache called "Fly-By on Ringer Loop." You can walk up the road or take the nature trails to get to the geocache.

You will see two concrete barriers on your left when you turn on Ringer Loop (see photo). This will eventually be the main entrance to the park and have a parking area. You can see that the recent flood has changed many features. In fact the entire section of the road was washed away.

You can also go a bit further down the road and turn left into the boat launch area and nature trail area. There are posted signs requiring a Discovery Pass to park (which many of you will have), or park at your own risk. There is an entrance to the off-leash area east of the boat launch. Plus there is an out-house style restroom available here.

The container is a lock n seal container about size of a bag of coffee beans. A of 6/12/2014, contents are:
*Log book/pen
Star Wars puzzle
Chameleon beanie
Survival bracelet
Large bouncy ball
