Geocache Description:

This is a cache in the Ashe County Barn Quilts series.

Ashe county is located in the corner of North Carolina that touches both Tennessee and Virginia. Ashe county highways and back roads take you through scenic hill country and peaceful valleys, along a rushing creek or the tranquil New River. You might be on a dirt road and suddenly come upon a beautiful barn quilt. Sponsored by the local arts council, these quilt block paintings on the side of a barn, or the wall of a house are a symbol of community and family, tradition and comfort.

This cache is placed a short distance from the "Family Quilt Pattern" barn quilt at the Phipps Store, formerly a post office, store and home of the school teacher. Now the Phipps Store is the location of the Friday night music jam ~ rain, snow, sleet or hail there is music inside and lots of warm, friendly people. On warm summer nights, there's music outside on the grass too. The store itself has been restored and is stocked with local items.

The cache is small, holds a log book and pencil and a few trade items.
