This is part of a series of caches sponsored by Green County Tourism.
Pleasant View was the original "county farm" and for many years served as the home to the indigent, the elderly, and the mentally handicapped. Originally more than 300 acres, it was virtually a self-sustaining farm complete with a dairy herd, chickens, vegetable gardens, and crop land, orchards. Residents worked in the bakery, the laundry, the kitchen, and the barn. They canned vegetables, and made their own butter.
Pleasant View Park, which shares a part of the original plot with the Goverment Center and nursing home, is maintained by the county, and has a picnic shelter available for rent. Check out the groomed trails. Park hours are 7:00am to 11:00pm
