Geocache Description:

A short walk into open access military land. Update 1/1/11. This cache appears to have been stolen and has been reinstated.

Clear plastic box with lockable lid. Please replace camouflage and leave name, date and comment in log and a tradeable item of same or greater value.

Park at Rowhills Field Centre over the roundabout on Cranmore Lane. Fairly busy road to cross, but with traffic islands. Pass through the cattle gate to access the woods - the Highland cattle roam the heath to keep down saplings and encourage wildlife - they are quite friendly, but snort a lot.

If you are local, you will appreciate the statutory MOD byelaw warnings, but the UK geocaching moderator has requested I add the follwoing information:

Please Note: This is a Military Training Area to which Public access is open at all times but which can involve the use of Pyrotechnics. One of the safety rules for public access is:- " Do not, (and ensure that children do not) approach, touch or pick up any metal objects lying on the ground. Please adhere to all Byelaws." MOD Managed Access Areas are Military Training Areas to which Access is open at all times, but where Military Training takes place that might involve the use of Pyrotechnics. The areas come under military byelaws at all times. One of the safety rules for public access is Adhere at all times to instructions and to the Byelaws covering the area. Do not, (and ensure that children do not) approach, touch or pick up any metal objects lying on the ground. More information can be found at (this link)
