Geocache Description:

Come and enjoy a great walk along Hayward Lake.
The trailhead is at a parking lot (coordinates included), just past the Ruskin Dam.
The remains of the railway that runs alongside the path shows up as "Abandoned" in my GPS.
Evidence of the historic trestles are the only sign a railway once traveled this route.

Historic Trestles

Along the way you will see great views of the lake, passing through old growth and second growth forest. There are benches and picnic tables along the route.

Views from along the path

There is a beach close to the cache that could be a lot of fun on warm summer days. Please observe the caution signs about the steep drop-off in the area.

The cache was moved in Dec 2013.
Follow the narrow path down a couple meters, under left side of large stump.
Watch out for prickles.
You are looking for a round lock'n'lock covered with some geosticks.

Avid walkers can follow the entire length of Railway Trail for about 7km to the Stave Falls Power Dam. Then the Reservoir Trail runs on the other side of the lake for another 9km.
