The cache is a cammoed cashew jar from Costco and is an easy find and kid friendly ( no drop offs). There is no need to go on the nearby private property and there is a wide turnout for parking. It's just an extra cache on your way to the stunning views from the top of Chelan Butte. There is a FTF Persistence Geocoin and a second to find DNF Geocoin. That should really go to someone who didn't find the cache, but how would you do that?
I don't know why, but I brought a cache container on this extended Easter vacation at Lake Chelan. We wound up here because our daughter convinced us to buy a gazillion timeshare points and we needed a place to use a few of them. We had a condo right on the lake and we were blown away by the beauty of this area. We really enjoyed caching here and decided to make it a regular event. As a few other visitors have, we wanted to contribute to this part of the geocaching world. In the space of two hours, we walked by a rattlesnake sunning itself a little ahead of the rest of the snake population and made snowballs at the top of Lake Chelan Butte. Unusual to say the least!!! Man, for an hour it was really hot and on the Butte it was so windy and cold we could barely look for the cache : ) Anyway, we found a spot that was Farther Along than another cache we found and although it isn't scenic, it is one more reason to drive on up!! I guess I have to say what every cache here says, WATCH FOR SNAKES!!!
