Geocache Description:

This is a micro hidden in the woods near the Citie of Henricus. (Jan. 2010 update: Container replaced with new micro, and "rain shield".

I placed this cache on a quiet Monday morning in the rain. While walking alone through these woods, I could not help but think how eerie these woods were. This cache is hidden hopefully in time for the CITO event schedule for April 26, 2009. GC1PABT "Tidy Up The Shores, is a Cache in Trash Out event scheduled by the Central Virginia Geocaching Association.

The Citie of Henricus Park ( (visit link) ) is a wonderful historical site located near the Dutch Gap. The Citie of Henricus was established in 1611. It was the second settlement after Jamestown.

When Pocahantas was captured by the English in 1613, she was taken to the Citie of Henricus, and turned over to Sir Thomas Dale. Lesser known legend and perhaps fictional myth reveals the story of a rescue attempt. The father of Pocahantas, Chief Powhatan, sent some of his finest men to rescue his daughter. The site of this fort was chosen with the defense against Powhatan's finest in mind. Therefore, this little known rescue attempt was easily thwarted. These brave men were quite loyal to Chief Powhatan. Since they failed their mission, rumor and perhaps fictional accounts detail how their spirits haunt the lowlands surrounding the Citie of Henricus fort.

Be aware, and be respectful of the spirits of Chief Powhatan's Finest. Spirits can be present in many shapes, sizes, and sensations. One perhaps lesser known variation of a ghost or spirit is called a Haint. Have you ever walked through a patch of air that is cooler than the surrounding air? Folklore says this patch of cooler air is called a Haint.

SUGGESTED ITEMS TO BRING FOR THIS CACHE:
1) Pen for the log
2) Tweezers to remove the log
3) Bug and/or tick spray (Please don't feed the skeeters!)
4) Wear boots or hiking shoes for the bushwacking needed.

WHILE VISITING THIS CACHE, BEWARE OF THE FOLLOWING:
1) Spider webs
2) Ticks
3) Skeeters
4) Snakes
5) Turtles (don't step on them please.)
6) The Spirits of Chief Powhatan's Finest
7) Poison Ivy, Poison Oak, etc.

NOTE TO VETERAN CACHERS: This is only my 3rd hide. Please give me any feedback as to the terrain and difficulty ratings. I looked up similar caches and rated mine accordingly.
