Geocache Description:

Permission granted by the Eagle River Ranger Station for placement of cache.

This cache is a traditional ammo box located in the Nicolet National Forest where the Thunder Lake Narrow Gauge railroad system once ran.

The Thunder Lake Narrow Gauge is a colorful but little known narrow gauge railroad system comprised of Robbins Railroad, the last narrow gauge common carrier on the Mid West, and the logging railroad of it's parent corporation, the Thunder Lake Lumber Co. From 1893 to 1941, the Narrow Gauge hauled logs, piling, pulpwood, potatoes, and lumberjacks among the lakes and forest of the Wisconsin northwoods between Rhinelander and the Eagle River Chain of Lakes area.

Congratulations to Wofmn on the FTF!!!!
