Since I joined the unit mentioned above and below I have been thinking some time of making some caches in their name. Our boys have been in countries far away like Congo, Rwanda, Somalia, Benin, Lebanon, Afghanistan… This time they are not that far from home but being here in Corsica it is a great opportunity to start a serie.
1 Para, also known as the 1st Batallion Paracommando from Belgium, (visit link) , was in Corsica from April 13th till April 18th in order to train for some marches in difficult terrain. After a very sunny arrival at Solenzara airfield our guys took their backpacks (weight between 20 and 25 kg) and took of for the first part of their journey. The first stop was at Rivoli, after a quite hard climb in the sun.
The second stop was at Tova, check cache 1.
From there our paracommando's took a new hide towards the Bavella. Another significant climb between the rocks and the forrests on the island, the cache itself is hidden at an altitude of approximately 1248m.
This location is quite popular amongst tourists and you will have no problems finding a parking spot.
Enjoy your walk to the cache and admire the beautiful sights.
