Geocache Description:

The best place to park is at the Tuscobia Trail sign in the community of Couderay. It is possible to save a few hundred feet and park closer but designated parking is not available.

THE TUSCOBIA TRAIL
The Tuscobia trail runs from Rice Lake to Park Falls, a distance of 74 miles. This makes it the longest trail of this type in the state. It served as a railroad line for 70 years when it was known as the “Omaha line”. The railroad industry declined in the 1940’s and by 1967 the old wooden bridges were dismantled and the recreational use of the trail began in 1968. Activities on the trail include Snowmobiling, hiking, ATV riding, horseback riding, and biking. More information on the trail can be obtained at www.tuscobiatrail.com The caches will introduce you to a section of the trail from south west of Lemmington to just West of Ojibwa where the Chippewa River THE TUSCOBIA TRAIL

I tried to place them in areas that have some scenic or historic interest. PLEASE DON’T PARK ON OR ACROSS ANY PART OF THE TUSCOBIA TRAIL.

The Couderay River is a tributary of the Chippewa River. It flows from Lac Courte Oreilles (Lake of the short ears) through Little Lac Courte Oreilles, through the Billy Boy Flowage where there is a dam that separates Little Lac Oreilles from the Couderay River. It enters the Chippewa River close to the community of Radisson. The river is shallow and the fishing is marginal but it is the home to a host of furbearers and waterfowl.

The cache is a camoflaged peanut butter jar. Enjoy the view in this somewhat secluded area of the river just outside of the community of Couderay.
